FY24 PVHA Mini-Grants and First EC250 Legacy Fund Award

The Patapsco Valley Heritage Area (PVHA) Mini-Grant Program assists heritage-related sites, organizations and municipalities to develop innovative programs, partnerships, exhibits, tours, events, and initiatives consistent with the regional goals and objectives in our state and county approved Management Plan. The Program encourages proposals that include collaborative partnerships, enhance preservation, encourage stewardship of natural resources, and promote heritage tourism. PHG received nearly $40,000 in requests for the FY24 Program, funded primarily by a $25,000 grant from the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority. Awardees were chosen through a competitive process.

FY24 PVHA Mini-Grant Awardees are:

  • Baltimore County Arts Guild, Natural Hair as Art Expo ($3829)
  • Catonsville Rails to Trails, Kensington Track Restoration Project ($3000)
  • Friends of Patapsco Valley State Park, Punisher at Patapsco-Trail Run Series ($4450)
  • Friends of Whipps Cemetery and Memorial Gardens, History of Heritage Cemetery Plants and Native Plant Alternatives Interpretive Signage ($3428)
  • Grace Improvement Organization of Grace AME Church, Honoring Our Heritage: A Black History Celebration ($2400)
  • Greater Patapsco Community Association-Small Watershed Community Committee, Supporting Habitat and Stream Health of Patapsco River Tributaries ($1893)
  • Howard County Conservancy, Highlighting Natural Resources at Mt. Pleasant Farmstead ($1500)
  • MORE: Mid-Atlantic Off-Road Enthusiasts, Adaptive Mountain Biking-Workspace/Storage ($1500)
  • Music City Maryland Association, 2024 Music City Maryland Festival ($2500)
  • Rotary Club of Catonsville, Catonsville Community Park Walking Path Connector ($2000)

PHG also provided the following award through its new EC250 Legacy Fund:

  • Howard County Historical Society, Ellicott City Floods: Tragedy and Resilience ($5000)

Patapsco Heritage Greenway’s mission is to preserve, protect, interpret, and restore the environment, history, and culture of the Patapsco River Valley. PHG administers the Patapsco Valley Heritage Area and holds a variety of environmental and history based programs throughout the year.
