Hunting and Archery

Patapsco Valley State Park has designated hunting areas across Baltimore, Carroll, and Howard Counties exclusively for deer hunting. The park features 18 hunting areas, most of which are designated for archery-only deer hunting. Only four areas permit firearm hunting.

Hunters must obtain the required permits, available online through Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

Check the Maryland Guide to Hunting and Trapping for updated regulations, permits, bag limits, and equipment allowance.

For details on hunting areas and regulations, visit the Maryland DNR website.

Archery Range

Located within the Marriottsville Area of Patapsco Valley State Park, the Heart of Maryland Bowhunters Club leases 40 acres from the Maryland DNR. The club offers a 30-target 3D archery course and hosts multiple public events during the spring and summer. Members also have access to a private target range with distances from 10 to 40 yards.

For those looking to practice archery without a club membership, a public target range is available adjacent to the club. This range is open to archers of all skill levels.
