Paddling

The Patapsco River is quickly becoming one of Maryland’s most popular destinations for paddlers, offering breathtaking views as it winds southeast toward Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. With multiple put-in spots throughout the river valley, paddlers can choose routes of varying lengths and difficulty levels.

Some sections of the river, such as the Daniels area, offer long, smooth rides on calm, slow-moving water, making it a great choice for a relaxing paddle. Other sections, like the waters near Main Street in Ellicott City, can be more challenging.

The Daniels area has a convenient hand launch spot for kayakers and canoers, located just upstream of the Daniels Dam.
