Winners Announced for 2025 PaSNAPsco Photo Contest

Patapsco Heritage Greenway (PHG) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2025 PaSNAPsco Photo Contest. Now in its eighth year, the contest awarded $900 in total prize money, including individual $100 prizes in seven categories as well as a $200 Best of Patapsco Prize.

William Beck took top honors capturing fall reflections on the river in Fall Color-North and South Forks of the Patapsco, winning both the Valley Views award and the Best of Patapsco prize. Geoffrey Baker won the Step Back award with Home Town Holiday, capturing a snowy view of Ellicott City’s Main Street. Baker also took home the Get Out award with Cold Winter Paddle, highlighting the solitude of a sunny winter day along the river. Mike Blevins won the Nature Nurtures award with Fishing in the Rapids, proving that our bird friends also enjoy fishing. Aiden Sarlak won the Aspiring Photographer (Student) award with Sunrise Through the Leaves and Siobhan O’Boyle captured a vibrant Catonsville performance in Sound Spectrum, which took home the Sights, Sounds and Streetscapes Award. In addition to the judges’ selections, an online vote determined Andrew Gosden’s Raindrops as the People’s Choice winnerA $100 prize was awarded for the top selection in each category and the winning photos along with honorable mention entries from Andrew Aldrich, Berni Carrieri, Alicia Shread and Shana Sterkin will be featured in PHG’s 2026 PaSNAPsco calendar. Additionally, PHG awarded honorable mentions to photographs from William Beck, Andy Finkel, Andrew Gosden, Liam Harmon, Anita Lato, Prasanth Parmar, Jonathan Posner, and Shana Sterkin that will appear in our PaSNAPsco exhibit in Fall 2026.

In announcing the awards, PHG Executive Director Aaron Shapiro commented, “PHG continues to be a proud supporter of the visual arts in the Patapsco Valley Heritage Area and we look forward to hosting our fall PaSNAPsco exhibit in partnership with the Baltimore County Arts Guild. This year’s entries continue to highlight the breadth and diversity of our area and should inspire viewers to explore and care for its resources.”

PaSNAPsco awards are sponsored by The Rogers Family of Ellicott City and the project has been financed in part with State funds from the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority but does not necessarily reflect its views or policies.
