How Old is That? A brief introduction to archaeological dating methods

Join Patapsco Heritage Greenway to get a brief introduction to archaeological dating methods used to date sites and artifacts.

At this talk, Dr. Kyla Cools (Heritage Program Manager for Patapsco Heritage Greenway), will provide a brief introduction to archaeological dating methods. Come and learn some of the ways in which archaeologists are able to date different objects. At this talk, you will be introduced to some of the basic frameworks and concepts to dating archaeological sites and materials, and learn about how some of these dating methods have been applied at sites ranging from globally famous case studies, to local sites in the Patapsco Valley Heritage Area.

Dr. Cools is an anthropologist and archaeologist with a passion for industrial history and labor history. She received her B.A. in Anthropology from Michigan State University, and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Maryland, College Park.
