The Maryland Heritage Areas Authority (MHAA) awarded matching grants totaling $308,651 for Patapsco Valley Heritage Area (PVHA) non-profits. The grant funds support heritage tourism projects and activities that draw visitors and expand economic development and tourism-related opportunities in the Patapsco Valley. The Moore Administration announced that 58 matching grants totaling $5 million were awarded to Maryland nonprofits, local jurisdictions, and other heritage tourism organizations by MHAA. These FY27 funds support the development of heritage-related, place-based projects across Maryland that promote economic growth through tourism, community enhancement, and sustainability.
Funded projects in the Patapsco Valley Heritage Area include:
- Maryland Wing, Civil Air Patrol – Paving the Way: Improving Visitor Safety and Access to the Historic Cold War BA-79 Nike Missile Base in Granite, Maryland, $6783
- Elkridge Assembly Rooms, Inc. – Elkridge Assembly Rooms Building Stabilization, $66,868
- Friends of Patapsco Valley State Park – Restoration of Civilian Conservation Corps Shelter 10 in Patapsco Valley State Park, $35,000
